The Flip7 has two screens, and that's both the good news and the bad news. Good, because a cracked cover screen is a fairly cheap fix. Bad, because the 6.9-inch folding screen inside is a delicate, specialized part, and it's the one that usually needs help. Here's what each repair costs and how to pick the right one.

What Samsung charges

Samsung publishes suggested prices for its authorized repair network. These can vary a little by location and don't include tax.

RepairSamsung suggested priceWith Samsung Care+
Inner screen repair (folding screen only)$249$29 per claim
Inner screen module (screen, frame and battery)$329$29 per claim
Cover screen (FlexWindow) repair$119$29 per claim
Cover screen moduleNot listed$29 per claim

A few rules come with those prices. Samsung's basic screen repair only works if the frame isn't bent, the battery isn't swollen and nothing else is broken. If the tech finds more damage, the quote goes up. Samsung also says foldable screen repairs go through its mail-in service, so plan on being without the phone for a few days. Its mail-in module repairs are quoted at about 5 to 7 business days.

What a local shop might charge

Independent shops have to buy the panel and do all the work themselves. Flip phones are slow, fiddly jobs, so labor runs higher than on a regular phone, often around $150 for a foldable screen before the part. We couldn't confirm a US wholesale price for the Flip7 folding panel. For a sense of scale, a European parts list reported by SamMobile and covered by Notebookcheck priced the inner panel at €342 (about $400) and the cover screen at €207 (about $240), parts only.

That's the strange part about this phone: Samsung's own $249 repair can come in lower than the part alone from a third party. On most phones the local shop is the bargain. On the Flip7, start with Samsung or an authorized Samsung repair center (uBreakiFix by Asurion is one) and compare from there.

Genuine vs. aftermarket folding screens

On a regular phone, an aftermarket screen can save real money. On the Flip7, it's a different story.

Genuine Samsung (Samsung or authorized shop)Aftermarket or third-party panel
Inner screen price$249 repair, or $329 with battery and frameNo US part price found (a European list showed about $400 for the panel alone)

Folding panels are hard to make, and we couldn't find a trustworthy price for an aftermarket Flip7 inner screen. Even if one turns up, it would need to beat $249 including about $150 in labor, which is a tall order. Genuine through Samsung is the clear pick here.

Which screen is actually broken?

  • Cover screen cracked, inside fine: that's the $119 job. Your phone still works when open, so you can wait a little if you need to.
  • Lines, black blobs or a dead strip on the inside: the folding panel is damaged. That's the $249 or $329 job.
  • A dent or a pressure mark at the fold: usually the panel too, even if the top film looks fine.
  • Only the plastic film is lifting or bubbling: that's the pre-installed screen protector, not the screen. Don't peel it off yourself.

Before you send it in

  • Back it up. Samsung Cloud or Smart Switch, so nothing is lost if the phone gets wiped.
  • Check Care+. If you added it, the $29 claim beats every other option. Log in to your Samsung account to see your plan.
  • Remove the case and any extra protector. Shops want to see the frame and hinge.
  • Write down your IMEI. It's on the box or under Settings > About phone. Our free IMEI check confirms the model before you mail anything, and it's worth running before you buy a used Flip7 with a "new screen" too.

Should you DIY it?

No. A folding OLED is thin and easy to crease, and getting it out means dealing with the hinge, adhesive and very short cables. One slip and you've bought a $400 part and still have a broken phone. This is a job for a tech with the right tools.

Questions to ask the shop

  • Is this a genuine Samsung panel or a third-party one?
  • Does the price include a new inner screen protector?
  • What happens to the water resistance seal?
  • How long is the warranty, and does it cover dead pixels or touch problems at the fold?

Is it worth fixing?

Usually, yes. The Flip7 launched in July 2025 at $1,099, so a $119 cover screen or a $249 inner screen is a small slice of what the phone is worth. If the battery is also getting weak, pay the extra for the $329 module. For the full list of fixes on this phone, see the Galaxy Z Flip7 repair page. Battery questions?
