The Flip8 carries a 4,300 mAh battery, the same capacity as the Flip7, with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging. That's a small tank for a phone that runs two screens. So if your Flip8 is struggling to make it to dinner a year or two in, you're not imagining it.

Check your battery health
- Open Samsung Members and tap Support.
- Under Phone diagnostics, tap Get started.
- Tap Battery status when the test finishes.
The result reads Normal, Weak or Bad. Samsung says Bad means significant degradation and a trip to a service center.
Is it really the battery?
- Likely battery: shutdowns at 15% to 20%, big drops in the cold, the phone getting warm while idle.
- Likely software: drain that started with an update or a new app. Check Settings > Battery to spot it, then update and restart.
- Cover screen habits: lots of widgets and always-on features on the cover screen use power. Trim them before you pay for a battery.
- Urgent: the phone won't close flat or a screen is lifting. That can be a swelling battery.
DIY? Think twice
Samsung hasn't added the Flip8 to its US self-repair program, which lists the Galaxy S25 series and Z Fold6 as its newest phones. On last year's Flip7, JerryRigEverything found the batteries came out fairly easily thanks to pull tabs. Getting to them is the risky part on a foldable, with glued panels and a fragile folding screen nearby. One slip can turn a battery job into a $249 to $359 screen job.
Best way to time it
If you have Care+, test monthly in Samsung Members and file once you're at 79% or less. If the inner screen is also worn or damaged, the $359 module repair replaces the screen, frame and battery at once, which is the most efficient way to refresh the whole phone.
What to ask the shop
- Is the battery genuine Samsung?
- Is the phone resealed after the swap?
- What's the warranty on parts and labor?
- Can they show the Samsung Members battery result afterward?
Buying a used Flip8
Battery wear is easy to hide in a quick test. Run a free IMEI check to confirm the model and lost-or-stolen status, then follow its guided steps to check battery health and replaced parts on the phone itself.
Is it worth it?
Yes. A new battery on a $1,199.99 phone is easy math, especially with Care+. Without a plan, get a written quote from Samsung or an authorized shop before anyone opens it up. If the phone is less than a year old and the battery is fading fast, ask Samsung whether it counts as a defect under the standard warranty.
