The Fold7 has two screens: an 8-inch folding AMOLED inside and a 6.5-inch cover screen outside. The cover screen is a normal phone screen with a normal price. The folding screen is the expensive one, and it's where most of the stress (literally) lives.
Samsung's prices
| Repair | Samsung price |
|---|---|
| Inner folding screen repair | $449 |
| Inner screen module replacement | $589 |
| Cover screen repair | $139 |
| Care+ cracked screen claim | $29 |
| Care+ with Theft and Loss claim | $0 |
Samsung lists these as suggested prices that can vary by store and exclude taxes. Foldable screen repairs go through mail-in, and the cheaper screen-only repair requires no bent frame, no swollen battery and no other faults found on inspection.
Independent shops and parts
When we checked Samsung's parts store, the genuine Fold7 inner screen kit (SM-F966) ran $667.01 to $794.95 depending on color. Add roughly $150 of labor for a hard foldable job and an independent shop is looking at about $820 to $945 for the folding screen, nearly double Samsung's $449. For the cover screen the gap is smaller, but Samsung's $139 is still hard to beat.
uBreakiFix by Asurion is Samsung-authorized, uses genuine parts, offers a 1-year limited warranty and does free diagnostics. It doesn't list Fold7 screen prices online, so ask for a quote.
Known Fold7 screen issues
On Samsung's US community forum, Fold7 owners describe the inner screen going black or partly black, sometimes with green lines, while the cover screen keeps working. Some describe a crack along the fold. The frustrating part is warranty handling: several posters say their claims were denied as physical damage, and the quotes they were given ranged from $486 (a prepaid mail-in quote) to about $637.
On durability itself, Android Authority's live hand-fold test got a Fold7 to around 200,000 folds with the inner screen still working, no dead pixels, and only a slightly deeper crease. It did pick up hinge creaking around 46,000 folds and a dead speaker near 175,000. So the panel can take a lot of folding. Drops, pressure on the crease and grit are the bigger risks.
Which screen is it?
- Cover screen: cracked outer glass, outside touch not working, outer screen black. $139.
- Inner screen: lines, black areas, flicker, dead touch along the fold, a dent or crack in the crease. $449 or $589.
- Protector only: bubbles or peeling at the edge of the inner protector. Samsung replaces it free under warranty and for around $20 after, per SamMobile.
How to protect a warranty claim
- Photograph the phone from every side before you send it in, showing no scuffs or dents near the failure.
- Write down when the problem started and whether it followed an update.
- If a store says "user damage" without opening the phone, ask for that in writing and contact Samsung support directly.
- If you have Care+, file through Care+ instead and pay the $29.
Is it worth fixing?
A $139 cover screen, absolutely. A $449 folding screen on a phone that launched in July 2025 is still worth it for most people, since it's a fraction of a new foldable. Pay Samsung rather than a shop for the inner screen; the parts math doesn't work otherwise. See the Galaxy Z Fold7 repair page and our Fold7 battery replacement guide for other repairs.
