Here's the nice thing about a cracked iPhone 11. Unlike the iPhone 11 Pro and every iPhone 12 and newer, it came with an LCD screen, not OLED. LCDs are cheaper to make and cheaper to replace. So this is one of the friendlier screen repairs on any iPhone that still gets updates.

What Apple charges for an iPhone 11

These are Apple's own out-of-warranty prices for the iPhone 11. Apple's estimator only lists three repairs for this model.

RepairApple priceWith AppleCare+
Cracked screen$199$29
Battery$89$0
Other damage$399$99

Apple puts in a genuine screen. If you have AppleCare+, stop reading and book it. $29 is hard to beat anywhere.

Shop prices and what you're really choosing

The original iPhone 11 screen is a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina HD LCD: 1792 by 828 pixels, 326 pixels per inch, 625 nits max brightness, per Apple's spec sheet. Since it's already an LCD, an aftermarket LCD is a like-for-like swap. The difference between shops comes down to the quality of the panel.

Is it the glass, the LCD, or both?

Picture three broken iPhone 11s.

  • Phone one: a crack in the corner, but the picture is perfect and touch works. You can live with it for a while under a screen protector, but cracks tend to spread.
  • Phone two: black ink-like blots, colored lines, or a section that's gone dark. The LCD itself is damaged. That doesn't heal, so plan on the repair.
  • Phone three: the screen looks fine but taps land in the wrong place or not at all. That's usually the touch layer, and it's the same screen replacement.

Before you pay anyone, peel off any screen protector and restart the phone. A cracked protector can cause ghost touches on a perfectly good screen. Embarrassing, but free.

What Apple says about non-genuine screens

Apple lists problems that can show up with screens that aren't genuine. Good shop screens may never have them, but test for these after the repair:

  • Touch that misses or registers taps you didn't make
  • The screen staying on during calls
  • True Tone or auto-brightness acting strange
  • Colors that look too yellow or too blue
  • Lower max brightness or faster battery drain

What to ask the shop

  • What brand and grade of LCD is it?
  • How long is the warranty, and does it cover touch issues?
  • Will you move True Tone over from my old screen?
  • Will you test Face ID, the earpiece and the front camera with me before I leave?
  • Is the repair same day?

DIY? Think twice

An iPhone 11 screen is a doable DIY job for someone with the right tools, patience and a steady hand. You'll be dealing with tiny screws, delicate ribbon cables and adhesive. Since a shop does it for $60 to $110, most people are better off letting someone else risk their thumbs. If you do go DIY, disconnect the battery before anything else.

Is it worth fixing an iPhone 11?

Usually, yes. The iPhone 11 still gets updates under iOS 27, though it doesn't get Apple Intelligence. A $60 to $110 shop screen keeps it useful for a while longer. Where it gets shaky is when the screen is just one of several problems. If the battery is also shot or the phone has other damage, read our iPhone 11 repair or replace guide before you spend anything.
