The iPhone 15 Pro came out in 2023. It has a titanium frame, which sounds tough, and it is. The glass on the front, though, still loses every argument with a parking lot. The good news: this phone is still worth fixing, and you have more options than "pay Apple" or "live with the spiderweb."
What Apple charges for an iPhone 15 Pro
| Repair | Apple price | With AppleCare+ |
|---|---|---|
| Cracked screen | $329 | $29 |
| Screen and back glass | $419 | $29 each (screen and back) |
| Back glass only | $159 | $29 |
| Rear camera | $219 | Not listed separately |
| Battery | $99 | $0 under 80% health |
| Other damage | $729 | $99 |
These are Apple's own US out-of-warranty prices, before tax. Apple checks the phone first, so the quote can go up if the tech finds a bent frame or liquid inside.
Your three screen options
The iPhone 15 Pro ships with an OLED panel. When a shop fixes it, you're choosing one of these:
| Screen | Typical price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Aftermarket LCD | $80 to $140 | Cheapest. Thicker borders, grayish blacks, and it uses more battery |
| Aftermarket OLED | $150 to $250 | Close to the original look with true blacks. Color and brightness can be a little off |
| Genuine Apple | $329 at Apple | The same screen the phone shipped with, plus Apple's repair warranty |
Is it the glass or the display underneath?
On the 15 Pro the glass and the OLED panel are one part, so any crack means a full screen replacement. Still, how bad it is tells you how fast you need to act:
- Picture is perfect, touch works: cosmetic for now. Cracks tend to spread, and they let in dust and moisture.
- Green or white lines, black blobs, flicker: the OLED itself is damaged. It won't heal.
- Ghost touches or dead spots: fix it soon. Phantom taps can open apps or call your boss at 2 a.m.
- Screen lifting at one edge: see the warning below.
Easy things to try first
If the screen looks fine but acts strange after a drop:
- Force restart: press and release volume up, press and release volume down, then hold the side button until the Apple logo shows.
- Peel off the screen protector. A cracked protector can mess with touch all on its own. Cheapest fix ever.
- Update iOS in Settings > General > Software Update.
Shop math vs. Apple math
The gap here is bigger than on the base iPhone 15. A genuine screen at Apple is $329. A decent aftermarket OLED in the $150 to $200 range saves you well over $100. That's real money.
But at the top of the shop range ($250), you're only saving $79 and giving up the genuine part. If a shop quotes $240 for an OLED, Apple is honestly the better deal.
An LCD makes sense in one situation: you're selling or handing the phone down soon and just need it usable. On a Pro model you paid extra for, an LCD is a downgrade you'll notice every time you look at it.
What changes with a non-Apple screen
- It shows up as an Unknown part under Settings > General > About, in Parts and Service History. Apple says that can affect trade-in value.
- You'll get a notification about it the first time you unlock after the repair, and again five days later. It doesn't stop the phone from working.
- True Tone needs the shop to carry it over from your old screen. Ask about it.
- With a genuine Apple part, the iPhone 15 Pro supports Apple's Repair Assistant, which finishes setting up the new screen. Your phone needs the latest iOS, Wi-Fi and more than 20% battery for that.
What to ask the shop before you pay
- Which screen is it, exactly? Get the type written on the receipt.
- How long is the warranty, and does it cover touch problems and dead pixels?
- Will you transfer True Tone?
- Is that the full price with labor and tax?
- Can I test Face ID, the front camera and every corner of the touchscreen before I pay?
Is it worth fixing?
Yes. The iPhone 15 Pro is on the iOS 27 support list, so it has plenty of life left. If you have AppleCare+, $29 is a no-brainer. Without it, go genuine if you plan to trade the phone in later, or pick a well-reviewed shop OLED to save about $100 and keep the phone looking right.
