The iPhone 14 Pro screen is fancier than most. It has the Dynamic Island, an always-on display, and ProMotion that runs up to 120Hz. That matters, because cheap replacement screens don’t always keep all of that.

What else to watch for

  • Always-on display: works with genuine and good OLED screens. Cheap LCDs and some budget OLEDs can drain more battery with it on.
  • True Tone: needs to be transferred from your old screen by the shop.
  • Face ID: a good shop swap keeps it working, as long as the tech is careful with the parts near the earpiece.
  • Parts and Service History: a non-genuine screen shows as an Unknown Part in Settings > General > About.

Apple or a shop?

Apple ($329) makes sense if you’re covered by AppleCare+ ($29), want to trade in soon, or care a lot about the display. The 14 Pro’s screen is one of its best features.

A shop OLED ($120 to $200) makes sense if you’re keeping the phone a while and want to save around $150. Just make sure it’s a good OLED with 120Hz, not the cheapest panel on the shelf.

Before you hand it over

A screen repair usually takes a shop about an hour, and Apple can often do it the same day if you book ahead. Either way, do this first:

  • Back up to iCloud or your computer. Repairs rarely wipe a phone, but it does happen.
  • Write down your passcode. The tech may need to test Face ID and the touch screen afterward.
  • Take a quick photo of the cracked screen. If anything else seems off after the repair, you’ll know what was already broken.

Fixing the back too?

If the back glass is cracked as well, that’s where the iPhone 14 Pro gets expensive: Apple charges $599 for screen and back together. Read why the 14 Pro back costs $559 before you book anything.

Worth it?

Yes, in most cases. The 14 Pro still has a great camera and still gets updates, so a screen repair buys plenty more time. All prices are on the iPhone 14 Pro page. Apple prices checked October 14, 2026; shop prices are typical US ranges.
