The iPhone 14 Pro was a big one: first Dynamic Island, first 48MP camera, always-on display. It still holds up really well in 2026. So the question isn’t “is it still good?” It is. The question is whether the specific repair you need makes sense.
The repairs, ranked from easy yes to hard no
| Repair | Apple price | Our take |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | $99 | Easy yes. Biggest bang for your buck |
| Cracked screen | $329 (shop: $120 – $200 OLED) | Yes, especially at a good shop |
| Rear camera | $219 | Usually yes if you love the camera |
| Back glass | $559 (shop laser: much less) | Shop yes, Apple maybe |
| Water or other damage | $709 | Usually no without coverage |
Why the battery is the obvious one
By now, plenty of 14 Pros are on their original battery. iPhone 14 batteries are designed to keep about 80% of their capacity after 500 full cycles, and a four-year-old phone has usually blown past that. Check Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging. Under 80%? $99 makes the phone feel brand new on battery life.
Why the back glass is the tricky one
The 14 Pro’s back is glued in, so Apple replaces the whole rear housing: $559. The regular iPhone 14 is $159 for the same problem. A shop with a laser can usually do the 14 Pro for a lot less. Here’s the full breakdown.
Three questions to decide
1. What would you upgrade to? If you’d buy a new iPhone 18 Pro anyway, a $559 or $709 repair on a four-year-old phone is hard to justify. If you’d buy a used 15 Pro, the math is closer.
2. What’s it worth as-is? A broken 14 Pro still has trade-in value. Get a quote first. Sometimes trading it in broken and putting that money toward a new phone beats fixing it.
3. Is anything else wrong? One repair on an otherwise great phone: fix it. Screen + battery + back all at once: probably time to move on.
Run your own numbers
Pop your actual quote, the cost of the phone you’d buy instead, and the phone’s age into our repair or replace calculator. It’ll tell you which way to lean in ten seconds.
If you decide to upgrade
Get the most out of your old 14 Pro before you let it go. Back it up, then sign out of your Apple Account and turn off Find My so the next owner can use it. Get a trade-in quote and a private-sale price and compare them. A cracked 14 Pro still sells, just for less, and buyers will ask about anything listed as an unknown part in Settings. Be upfront and you’ll sell it faster.
Our honest take
For most iPhone 14 Pro owners in 2026: replace the battery, fix the screen at a good shop, and keep going another year or two. Save the upgrade for when something expensive breaks, or when you just really want the new one.
